Hungarian folk art flowers look awesome in white on white. This set has a TruColor Airbrush Shine background with a folk art flower center motif surrounded by lace.
I shared the videos on social media in the last couple of weeks. This is a place where you can find them all. I hope you enjoy them!
These are real play-cookies. I had some leftover bunny cookies and a butterfly. They were flooded with white icing. I decided to mix some icing with TruColor gel colors and play with them. The mindless doodling was fun and I like the result.
Getting close to Valentine's Day, lets get back to some traditional techniques. This set of 6 inch hearts have red egg glaze with white icing - the most traditional combination.
As a mother of three, I always try to use natural ingredients in my kitchen. For a long time this was not a real option when it came to food coloring. I am thrilled, that with TruColor now we have the opportunity to create colorful AND healthy treats.
I have used their airbrush colors a lot, as it is so easy to just paint on the cookies. But I did not really use the gels until now. Mixing the icing colors is a lot of work by itself and it just felt overwhelming to add the extra step of hydrating the colors first. But I decided to get over my fear and get familiar with this product as well. And it was actually easier than I thought.
I used the smallest mixing bowl I had. First, I put a little color powder in the bowl and mixed it with a few drops of distilled water. When the color dissolved I added some icing. Then adjusted the consistency by adding a little confectioners sugar or water as needed. (But this is a step I always do for each bag when bagging icing). Look at this gorgeous, vibrant palette:
I don't know if it's just because of knowing that they are natural and healthy, but I always find my TruColor color palettes very beautiful and live. Somehow, I always love them more that my synthetic palettes. What do you think?
Today I would like to share this baptism cookie set I made for a sweet little girl. The simple white onesies complement beautifully the lace decorated cross cookies.
I think simple is beautiful. For the third cookie box option in the Texas class series I decided on simple white lace on the bare cookie. This is the most traditional combination and I love it. It's simple but elegant and all you need is a tiny bag of white icing.
This was the second design of the Texas cookie box class. This transparent layer is a 3 second consistency icing painted on the cookie. This is an easy technique that has many applications and definitely looks harder that it is. Give it a try!
Lace is a very traditional gingerbread decoration in Hungary. It is easier to master than it looks. With just one icing bag we can create very attractive designs.
I know you don't believe me when I say it is easy, so I made some videos to show you:
It's easy, isn't it? Make some for Valentine's Day and show me your work! If you need more help, check out my classes!
This set is almost the same, as the red and green ornaments with lace I posted a few weeks ago, just a little easier, as the lace is white, so it's not painted.
And painted them with gorgeous and healthy TruColor colors. I chose Super Red Shine and Holly Green Shine. They come in powder form, I use distilled water to dilute as much as I need.
I wanted to decorate them with golden lace, so I made some yellowish icing. It will look nice with the gold paint.
When the lace was ready I let it dry completely.
Then I painted the lace with TruColor Gold Shine. I love to use this color instead of the "non toxic" gold dusts available on the market.
I still need to learn how to make nice pictures of shiny cookies, but I hope you still like it!
